The first steps for rolling code and fixed code garage door openers are the same. They diverge a bit later in the process, but this guide will show you which garage door type you have and how to program it properly.

  1. Hold original garage door remote within 1-3 inches of the HomeLink buttons
  2. Press and hold the “Open” button on your garage door remote and the HomeLink button you want to program
  3. Continue holding both buttons until HomeLink indicator light flashes
  4. The HomeLink indicator light will either turn solid or start to flash rapidly

A fixed code garage door is indicated by a solid light, while a rolling code one is indicated by a flashing light. Jump to the corresponding section below and follow that set of directions to complete the setup process.
