The Toyota Tacoma’s off-road capabilities are strongest with the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road’s Crawl Control and Multi-terrain Select technologies. The Crawl Control automatically modulates both the throttle and the brakes on five different low-speed settings so that you can always stay focused on driving on rugged terrain. The Multi-terrain Select gives the Tacoma trim five modes that help improve traction and regulate wheelspin by adjusting engine throttle.
The standard model of the 2017 Toyota Tacoma comes with a 2.7-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine, capable of 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. This engine is also available with the SR5 trim level. A 3.5-liter V6 DOHC engine is also available with the SR and SR5 trim levels, but comes standard in the TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited and TRD Pro models. This engine is able to reach 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.
The 2017 Toyota Tacoma was constructed with a hot-stamped, high-strength steel alloy that is stronger and lighter than conventional steel. This, along with the 3.5-liter engine power and the available Tow Package allows the 2017 Tacoma to tow up to 6,800 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,440 lbs. Also included in the Tow Package is Trailer-Sway Control, which applies brake pressure to individual wheels, as well as manages engine torque that helps maintain control of your trailer on the road.
The 2017 Toyota Tacoma offers many different technologies that make your driving easier and more enjoyable. The Smart Key with Push Button Start system allows you to unlock your doors by touching the driver-side door handle, and lets you start your vehicle just by pressing a button. For fun adventures, the Tacoma comes standard with a GoPro mount attached to the windshield for capturing footage of your travels. The 2017 Tacoma also allows you to charge your smartphone with ease with its available Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging system. You’ll just need to place your Qi-compatible device on top of the non-slip surface and it will keep your device charged at all times.
