When it comes to performance vehicles, the Supra is iconic. It gained a cult following thanks to its sleek looks, uncompromising performance, and excellent handling. And now, it’s back. The second model in the fifth generation, the 2021 GR Supra builds on what made the 2020 Supra revival successful, with the addition of a new engine variant, an improved 3.0-liter I6 engine, a new trim, and upgraded infotainment options.
Here’s what you can expect from the 2021 Toyota GR Supra.
The 2021 GR Supra has two engines on offer: a turbo-four and a turbo I6. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is standard on the base Supra 2.0 models. The engine produces 255 horses and 295 lb-ft of torque. It does 0-60 mph in just under 5 seconds. Supra 3.0, Supra 3.0 Premium, and A91 Edition models have the 3.0-liter turbocharged I6. It pumps out a massive 382 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque, clocking 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. All 2021 GR Supra models are RWD and come with an eight-speed automatic that has paddle shifters and a manual driving mode. I6 models get an adaptive suspension and a limited-slip differential. Launch control is standard across all models.
The 2021 GR Supra comes standard with the Supra Command system, which includes an 8.8-inch infotainment screen and a combination touchpad/knob control panel. A digital gauge cluster, satellite and HD radio, Bluetooth functionality, and a USB port are also standard. Apple CarPlay®, integrated navigation, a wireless charging pad, and an 8.8-inch touchscreen are all available. The Supra 3.0 gets an improved 10-speaker audio system. The Supra 3.0 Premium bumps that up to a 12-speaker sound system.
The 2021 GR Supra has many standard safety features, living up to its Toyota heritage. Forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking are standard, as are lane departure warning with lane keep assist, automatic high beams, and a rearview camera. Available safety aides include blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a heads-up display, and front and rear parking sensors.
